Cray in $45M contract with US nuclear agency

SEATTLE — Cray Inc. said Thursday it has won a contract worth $45 million to build a supercomputer for the National Nuclear Security Administration, part of the U.S. Department of Energy.

The company said it will create a new computer system that will help safeguard nuclear material and perform other functions at three NNSA laboratories, including the Los Alamos National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

Cray said the contract includes an option for future upgrades.
