Krishna commends Nalanda Sriwijaya Centre for scholarly work

Singapore, Mar 26 (ANI): Union External Affairs Minister S. M. Krishna on Friday commended the faculties of Nalanda Sriwijaya Centre for their outstanding academic and scholarly work.

Krishna, who is currently on a Singapore tour, paid a visit to the centre at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies.

“I have also been informed about your research publication on Chola Expeditions to Southeast Asia. This was a landmark achievement and I warmly congratulate all those concerned for his initiative,” Krishna said

During his visit Krishna also commended the conferences, which have been organized by the institute.

The External Affairs Minister also briefed gathering about the current status of the initiative on the setting up the Nalanda University in Bihar’s Gaya district.

“The land for the University is already acquired and the Nalanda University Bill is being processed for Parliamentary approval during the current session. I am confident of steady progress,” he added.

The Nalanda University was a great ancient and medieval centre of intellectual activity in Buddhist philosophy, mathematics, medicine and other disciplines. (ANI)
