LONDON - Hazel Nutt, Mary Christmas, Chris Cross, Pearl Button, Max Power, Doug Hole and Justin Case are some of the bizarre names that have been featured in the “Most Unfortunate Names in Britain” list.

Experts warned what may sound cute for a toddler could have embarrassing implications for the child when he/she grows up.When the parents of some of those people mentioned named their children, many probably didn’t even realise the implications at the time,” The Telegraph quoted a spokesman for TheBabyWebsite.com, which commissioned the research, as saying.

“There must be tremendous embarrassment every time they have to introduce themselves to anyone, especially to a crowd. Even their teachers must have had to hold back their smiles sometimes. Parents really do need to think carefully though when choosing names for their children,” he added.

But for some of the people with unusual names, the picture was not entirely negative.

Retired airman Stan Still, 76, from Cirencester, Gloucestershire, said his name had been “a blooming millstone around my neck my entire life”.

He told the BBC: “When I was in the RAF my commanding officer used to shout, ‘Stan Still, get a move on’ and roll about laughing. It got hugely boring after a while.”
