LONDON - Tigger, a cat in Britain, is said to have suffered no injuries after he jumped 40ft from the roof of a building, as firefighters were trying to rescue him.

The incident took place when Tigger, who had been missing for 11 days, was spotted by his owner Mary Nightingale on the roof of a house in Cheltenham, Glos.

She called the emergency services, and firefighters used a rescue platform to try and rescue him on February 19.

However, Tigger was “spooked” by the rescue attempt and leapt 40ft (12.2m) from the chimney onto the ground.

Incredibly he suffered no injury in the fall and Nightingale said he was now recovering at home.

“‘I saw this tabby face poking out from the chimney and I didn’t realise it was my cat at first. I just heard this meowing coming from the roof,” the Telegraph quoted her as saying.

“‘He has had a good feed and has now fallen asleep on the chair. I am amazed he hasn’t even broken a bone,” she said.

An RSPCA spokeswoman added: “Anything can happen with these sort of rescues. The animals can get spooked and he was lucky not to be injured.” (ANI)
