LONDON - Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy was caked in blood after his face was hit outside a nightclub in Cheshire.

A Manchester United fan battered the Welsh footballer splitting his head open and sending him flying.

A 6ft 2in attacker “built like a rugby player” continued pounding 5ft 9in Bellamy as he lay sprawled on the ground.

The attacker fled before police arrived at trendy Panacea club in Alderley Edge, Cheshire.

“The guy hit Bellamy five or six times. He pummelled him in the face,” News of the World quoted an onlooker, as saying.

Bellamy, 30, refused to press charges and was driven off in a Rolls Royce. He was pictured on Saturday with a black eye and cut face.

Bellamy had been out with his team-mate Wayne Bridge after a 2-1 defeat against Hull on Saturday last week. (ANI)
