LONDON - The girl who kissed Prince William during his farewell speech in Australia is a 15-year-old student Victoria Downie.

The second-in-line to the throne had obliged to the schoolgirl when she requested him for a peck.

Downie, who works as a part time model, was returning from a model casting with her mother Doris, when she headed to the city centre to catch a glimpse of the Prince.

” I wanted to see him on his last day and I happened to be in the right place at the right time. I managed to get his attention. I said to him: ‘Welcome to Victoria, Prince William. Sorry, but may I please have a kiss,” The Telegraph quoted her as saying.

She added: “He said: ‘Certainly. Go for it!’ I kissed him on the cheek.”

Downie admitted she didn’t expect to kiss the prince.

She said: “He just said ‘Thank you very much.’ I said: ‘Thank you’ and that was it.’ I didn’t expect to get a kiss at all but when I woke up I saw there were pictures of me on different newspaper websites all around the world.”

She said she was “thrilled” by the experience and intends to have the photograph of them together framed.

Prince William thanked Australian girls in his speech at Government House for continuing the tradition of kissing members of the Royal family.

He said: “My father had such a great time here at school - and is still misty-eyed about an immortal moment on Bondi, when an Australian beauty planted a smacker on his cheek. It’s good to see this tradition is continuing!” (ANI)
