Pope gunman proclaims Apocalypse, wants Dan Brown to tell his story

LONDON - Mehmet Ali Agca, the man who attempted to assassinate Pope John Paul II, walked out free from a Turkish prison yesterday.
And he has promised to tell the true story of all that took place nearly 30 years ago for a whopping 7million dollars.
On May 13 1981, Agca shot Paul II while the pontiff was greeting pilgrims in St Peter’s Square.
He has spent about 30 years in jail and all this while various theories have tried to explain why he attempted to murder the pope.
When he was interrogated he said he carried out the shooting following orders from Bulgarian secret intelligence. But later he changed his story and began saying he was Jesus Christ and that the world would end.
And now Agca, 52, who has “a severe personality disorder” if Turkish authorities are to be believed, wants to cash in on the curiosity surrounding his motives for the assassination attempt.
He told a British newspaper that film and documentary projects “from Japan to Canada” awaited his response.
He is said to be demanding 2million dollars for a television interview, and 5million dollars for two books, including an autobiography.
Agca has reportedly written to American author Dan Brown, suggesting him to pen a book titled The Vatican Code and a flick of the same name.
According to Turkish daily Hurriyet Daily News, Agca’s family hopes “to earn at least 50m dollars in copyrights from TV series, interviews, documentaries and books,” reports the Independent.
However, his lawyer, Yilmaz Abosoglu, did not divulge any details.
He said: “We have yet to agree with any television or publishing company…. We’ll wait and see what happens.”
When Agca was released from Sincan Prison in Ankara yesterday he gave some dramatic responses to the reporters waiting for him.
The healthy and tall Agca, dressed in a royal blue suit and tie, said: “I proclaim the end of the world….
All the world will be destroyed this century. Every human being will die in this century … I am the Christ eternal.”
A letter written by him was handed to reporters outside the jail by his brother, wherein he proclaimed to be “the divine messenger of God” and promised to write “the perfect Gospel”. (ANI)
