Mediation on Kashmir only if both India, Pak deem fit: UK Envoy
By ANITuesday, January 12, 2010
LONDON - British High Commissioner-designate to Pakistan Adam Thompson has said that the United Kingdom is ready to mediate over the Kashmir issue only if both Pakistan and India deem it fit.
Thompson reckons that the settlement of the dispute was crucial for peace and stability in South Asia.
“The tension between Pakistan and India caused by the Kashmir dispute has endangered the peace of the region,” The Daily Times quoted Thompson, as saying.
Thompson further said that Governments of Pakistan and India should hold dialogue to find an acceptable solution to the long-standing dispute, and stressed that the UK desires to see good relations between the two countries. (ANI)
