Home Selling
WEAK HOME SALES: This year's home sales are shaping up to be as dismal as last year, despite cheap home prices and mortgage rates that have fallen to the lowest levels in decades.
WASHINGTON - Sales of previously occupied homes rose last month, but not enough to keep August from being the second-worst month for sales in more than a decade.
LOS ANGELES - Home sales in the San Francisco Bay area plunged 10.9 percent in August from the year-ago period to reach the lowest level for the month in 18 years, a tracking firm said Thursday.
LOS ANGELES - Home sales in Southern California fell 13.8 percent last month to mark the slowest August in three years, as the weak job market and a lost sense of urgency among shoppers curbed activity, a tracking firm said Tuesday.
PENDING HOME SALES RISE: The number of buyers who signed contracts to purchase previously occupied homes increased by 5.2 percent in July from June.
