India, world will miss Bhimsen Joshi, says Krishna

NEW DELHI - External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna Monday mourned the death of legendary musician Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, saying India and the world has lost “a shining light of music and a master of its intricacies”.
“In his demise, not only India but the entire world has lost a shining light of music and a master of its intricacies,” Krishna said in a statement.
“Panditjis contribution to classical Indian music and to introducing this rich heritage of India to the world is eternal and second to none, he said.
“His glorious artistry will continue to pervade the hearts and minds of music lovers all over the world. EAM (External Affairs Minister) also expresses his deep condolence to the bereaved family and he joins them in praying for peace to the departed soul, the statement added.
The 88-year-old Joshi, who was awarded the country’s highest civilian honour the Bharat Ratna in 2008, died at Pune’s Sahyadri Hospital at 8.05 a.m.
