Georgian President pardons 407 prisoners on New Year’s eve

ATLANTA - Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has reportedly pardoned 407 prisoners on New Year’s eve.
According to Xinhua, out of the 407 prisoners who were pardoned, 339 were to leave jail on Friday to join their families and friends in time for the New Year celebration.
Presidential pardon documents were already sent to the Minister for Correction and Legal Assistance, Khatuna Kalmakhelidze, who said the other 58 prisoners would have their jail time reduced by more than half.
In November 23 last year, the St. George Day of the country, Saakashvili pardoned 220 prisoners. Full pardon was given to 182 prisoners and 32 prisoners got a reduction in sentence. (ANI)
