Imphal revives lost culture

IMPHAL - A two-day cultural programme ‘Awakening the past culture’ has been organized in Imphal to revive a neglected heritage.

Cultural troupes from every locality performed folk songs and dances on the occasion.

One of the organisers said it is very important to preserve the culture of the State.

“This is very spectacular, we need to preserve this culture. It is such a very big thing that takes place, and this is the second time this is taking place. So, it is very important, and, we need to cherish, and even all the parents and all the small kids, they are present here and it is going to be a great memory for them,” said Thengminchon, one of the organisers.

A spectator said reviving a neglected culture of their village was essential.

“This is us, they have put in the theme ‘Awakening the past culture’. Students, the youths would like to revive the culture that has been neglected so far. They want to revive the culture of this village,” said Solomon Khoram, a visitor.

A tradition fashion parade was also organised much to the delight of the gathering.

Rishang Keishing, a senior Congress leader and a MP, was the chief guest at the cultural programme.

Keishing called upon the Tangkhuls, specially the youngsters, to understand and respect the rich and loyal cultural heritage of their forefathers.

He assured every possible assistance from his side. (ANI)
