PARACHINAR - At least 20 suspected insurgents were killed in an offensive launched by security forces in Pakistan’s Kurram tribal region.
A government official said the army launched the strike on Thursday morning in the Chinarak area of Kurram after receiving intelligence reports about insurgents gathering there.
Helicopter gunships pounded the militant hideout, killing at least 20 suspected insurgents and also destroying an explosives-laden vehicle, the Dawn reports.
Many Taliban militants escaping a Pakistan army operation in the nearby Orakzai tribal region are believed to have fled to Kurram, which is located near the Afghan border.
A day before, at least seven insurgents were killed when security forces attacked militant hideouts in central Kurram. Two militant hideouts were also destroyed in the action. (ANI)
