NEW YORK - United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has condemned Saturday’s “abhorrent attack of terrorism” in Pakistan, in which a female suicide bomber killed 46 people queuing to receive food aid.
“The Secretary General was appalled to learn about a terrorist attack outside the WFP food distribution centre in Khar,” the Daily Times quoted his spokesman, as saying in a statement.
“He unequivocally condemns this abhorrent act of terrorism aimed at innocent people.”
“The Secretary General conveys his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Pakistan,” the statement added.
A female bomber had carried out the attack on a large crowd receiving food aid from one of the World Food Programme (WFP) depots in Khar, which is located in Pakistan’s tribal areas close to the Afghan border.
An estimated 300 people were queuing for food at the time of the blast. (ANI)
