MUMBAI - The Mumbai Police on Monday issued a look-out notice for one of the four terrorists who are suspected to be holed up in the city to carry out strikes during the New Year.

The Police are suspecting that the suspect Mahfooz Alam might be planning to leave the city today, following which the Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport has been put on high-alert.

The authorities have also instructed immigration officers to check for anyone carrying fake passports and immediately detain the person.

Deputy Commissioner of police Nisar Tamboli had said there was specific information that the four terrorists had sneaked into Mumbai and were likely to cause “major disturbance” at crowded places and sites of worship in the city.

This is the second time in three months that the police have issued a high alert and released mug shots of terrorists suspected to be in the city.

Just before Ganesh Chaturthi and Eid, the police had released pictures of two suspected terrorists belonging to the Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI). Neither of them has been traced.

A new helpline number - 022-22633333 - is in place for residents to report suspicious activity. (ANI)
