RUDAULI - The handkerchief business has become good source of generating employment in Rudauli village in Uttar Pradesh’s Faizabad District.

Business has engaged majority of the households, including men, women, children and old people.

Mohammad Sami, a businessman, said villagers engaged in this business of making borders of the handkerchiefs take the stock from them and return once they are finished. They are paid according to the numbers and sizes of the handkerchiefs.

“Depending on how many borders they make, they are being paid on that basis. Making charges of one handkerchief is six rupees or five rupees. Small handkerchief fetches them five rupees and big handkerchief six rupees,” said Sami.

“People take these handkerchiefs from us and give us back after finishing. Then we send these finished handkerchiefs to Barabanki, the place from where we take the unfinished product,” he added.

Sami further said these handkerchiefs are very useful in the hotter regions as they defend people from the hot waves.

“These (handkerchiefs) are used to cover up which are used both by men and women. Women who wear naqaab (mask) use this and we men also use this. These handkerchiefs are very cold in summer season. People living in the hotter regions use this,” said Sami.

These handkerchiefs are then circulated to the different parts of the country and even in abroad. By Amit Kanojia (ANI)
