NEW DELHI - Heavy fog has disrupted the scheduled flights at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi today, causing huge inconveniences to the passengers.

According to reports, around 75 domestic and international flights were delayed, diverted or cancelled this morning after visibility dropped to nearly zero at the airport.

About 15 domestic flights from Delhi were reportedly cancelled and 12 international, mostly scheduled to depart late last night and in the wee hours, have been rescheduled.

“I had my flight yesterday at 8:30 in the night and due to fog it got delayed and at 12 the authorities informed that the flight has been cancelled. The whole night I waited at the airport. The authorities have not provided us with any arrangements for other flight and now they are saying that you get your ticket cancelled and do the arrangements on your own,” Rohit Sharma, a passenger, said.

“Flight has been cancelled due to dense fog; there were some technical issues. There was low visibility and some technical points were missing due to which they cancelled the flight. They are not providing any other means,” he added.

Besides, the passengers also faced lot of problems to reach the airport early Sunday morning due to lack of visibility because of thick fog, and also noticed a number of road accidents for the same reason.

“There is a lot of problem due to fog. We faced problem in reaching the airport. Due to dense fog, it took us time to reach the airport. Visibility is very poor. On the way, many vehicles had an accident. Flights are also getting delayed,” Sarabpreet Singh Garewal, another passenger, said. (ANI)
