NEW DELHI - The members of Shillong Chamber Choir, which impressed US President Barack Obama during his recent State-visit to India, today performed in front of government officials here on Friday.

The choir members presented a copy of their recordings to Foreign Secretary Niprupama Rao and other officials of the Ministry of External Affairs, who were present on the occasion.

The young group of 16 members presented an eclectic mix of traditional and popular Christmas carols, interspersed with popular Bollywood songs during their performance.

Impressed by their performance, Rao also honoured the choir founder Neil Nongkynrih with a memento.

The Shillong Chamber Choir has sent U.S. President Obama, a recording of their music album as a Christmas gift.

The choir was formed in 2001 with the intention of breaking music barriers. Many of the famous soloists from Shillong and Meghalaya joined as the members of this energetic group.

Earlier this year, the choir group became a household name as they thumped victory in a national television reality show ‘India’s Got Talent - Khoj 2′. (ANI)
