Christmas In Mumbai Under Terror Alert

MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Just like cities all across the globe, the financial capital of Mumbai is also gearing up to celebrate the festivities of Christmas to the fullest. However, this year, the Christmas festivities in the city would be carried out under heightened security after Mumbai Police received a tip-off that four Lashkar-e-Taiba militants have arrived in the city to carry out terror attacks. As a result, a terror alert has been issued in extensive parts of the city while the police authorities have initiated a manhunt to ascertain the whereabouts of the four militants.

The vigil across Mumbai was increased and a terror alert was issued by the Mumbai Police after it received specific inputs from the Centre that few Lashkar-e-Taiba militants had entered the city with the aim of carrying out vicious attacks as Mumbai rejoices in the Christmas and New Year festivities. While talking to reporters, Additional Police Commissioner (South) Naval Bajaj stated that the Taj Mahal Hotel which was one of the targets in the 26/11 terror attacks and the roads adjoining to the iconic building would be under high security keeping in mind the festivities. Along with the rest of the city, security in the Colaba area including the area near Gateway of India would be beefed up in order to prevent any untoward incident, the police official further added.

Meanwhile, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Himanshu Roy has told journalists that the four militants who have supposedly entered the city to carry out terror attacks during Christmas are all within the age group of 20 to 30 years. A picture of one of the militants has also been released by the cops.
