Chidambaram felicitates police sportspersons for winning medals at CWG, Asian Games

NEW DELHI - Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on Friday felicitated the police sportspersons, who won medals for the country in the 19th Commonwealth Games and the 16th Asian Games.

Chidambaram gave away the cheques of reward money to the medal winners/Arjuna awardees and congratulated and praised the police sportspersons for their sterling performance in Commonwealth Games and Asian Games and hoped that they will further improve their performance in future.

Senior police officers of Central Para Military Forces, Haryana, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Manipur witnessed the felicitation function that was organized by the All India Police Sports Control Board.

The police sportspersons won 17 medals including four gold, six silver and seven bronze in the 2010 Commonwealth Games held in New Delhi. They won 12 medals including six gold, two silver and four bronze in the 16th Asian Games held in China’s Guangzhou city. (ANI)
