JOHANNESBURG - South Africa’s National Prosecuting Authority has submitted papers for the extradition of British Indian murder-accused Shrien Dewani to the South African justice department.

“The papers that we submitted to the department of justice as the central authority, we believe are in order and have all the information that will persuade the court in a subsequent hearing to grant us the extradition,” NPA spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga told the SABC news station.

“We are confident that in a reasonable time, we will have him here as an accused,” the News24.com web site quoted Mhaga, as saying further.

The justice department is the central authority that deals with extradition. It facilitates the process through diplomatic channels with the international relations and co-operation department.

Shrien Dewani is accused of murdering his wife Anni in a staged hijacking in South Africa.

Anni Dewani was killed on November 13 in Gugulethu, Cape Town. (ANI)
