HYDERABAD - The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday questioned RSS executive member Indresh Kumar in connection with the blast at Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad in 2007 and the Ajmer blast.
Indresh, however, claimed that he is a devout Indian citizen and that he is being framed.
“It’s a political conspiracy by the Congress party. I am not aware why they have called me. As a law abiding citizen I have come here to answer whatever question they have,” he said.
“I request my friends and colleagues to protest against my questioning peacefully. I am innocent. I have full faith in the judiciary and the people of my country,” he added.
The Rajasthan Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) that filed the chargesheet on October 22 has claimed in its report that several RSS leaders including Indresh Kumar allegedly attended the secret meeting held on October 31, 2005.
According to the 806-page chargesheet, the conspiracy for the blast was headed by Swami Sananand, who arranged meetings in Jammu, Indore and Ujjain.
The bomb explosion inside Mecca Masjid during Friday prayers on May 18, 2007 had claimed nine lives while five persons were killed in police firing during clashes that erupted after the blast. (ANI)
