THIRUVANANTHAPURAM - All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) supremo J Jayalalithaa on Thursday said the probe in the 2G scam is moving in the right direction with former Telecom Minister A. Raja being summoned to New Delhi for questioning in the case.
Jayalalithaa said she is confident that the ongoing investigation would soon reach a logical conclusion.
“I think the probe is moving in right direction and as you are aware that Raja (A. Raja, former telecom minister) has been summoned to Delhi for interrogation. I’m sure that very soon the probe will reach its logical conclusion,” said Jayalalithaa.
She further said the image of the DMK has suffered a major setback, and the party has been ashamed in front of the entire world because of its corrupt leaders.
“Most certainly it (2G spectrum allocation scam) has damaged the image of the DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, regional party). The DMK’s image was already very badly damaged because of its all pervasive corruption in every sphere of activity in Tamil Nadu and spectrum scam has only served to demolish the DMK’S image for good,” said Jayalalithaa.
“It has always been perceived as a corrupt party now it has reached the very height of corruption, which is unmatched anywhere in the world,” she added.
Jayalalithaa had earlier on Monday demanded that A. Raja should be arrested on corruption charges.
Raja was forced to resign last month under considerable pressure from the Congress, which continues to be attacked in Parliament by the Opposition on corruption charges.
The 2G-spectrum allocation has reportedly caused an alleged loss of Rs1.76 lakh crores to the Government, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has stated in a report. (ANI)
