KUALA LUMPUR - Human Rights Party secretary-general P. Uthayakumar has appealed to the Malaysian Government to create a separate television channel for the Maly Indian community.

He said that the programming of the channel should be similar to what exists on Singapore’s Vasantham channel.

The Malaysia Nanban and The Star further quoted Uthayakumar, as saying that he was making the call in reference to Bernama TV decision not to air Tamil news on Friday which left many Indians unhappy and dissatisfied.

He said Indian labourers, especially those who earned about an average of RM600 a month, could not subscribe for Astro to watch Indian programs as it was too costly.

Uthayakumar also suggested that the government can promote its activities and provide incentives through this channel. (ANI)
