Krishna-Hillary discuss Obama visit, Afghanistan

NEW DELHI - External Affairs Minister SM Krishna has invited US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the second round of strategic dialogue during a telephonic conversation on late Wednesday evening.

Dates for the second round would be decided through diplomatic channels, according to the sources. The first round was held in Washington earlier in June this year.

Hillary Clinton called up Krishna and discussed the initiatives announced during US President Barack Obama’s visit and exchanged views on taking them forward.

They expressed satisfaction at the successful visit of President Obama, and discussed the situation in Afghanistan.

Krishna also offered condolences at the untimely demise of Richard Holbrooke, the United States special envoy on Afghanistan Pakistan.

Separately, US Under Secretary for Political Affairs William J Burns had a telephonic conversation with Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao on Wednesday. (ANI)
