BURARI - Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Monday reiterated that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government will take “corruption head-on”.
“We will take corruption head-on and demonstrate through our action and not through words alone that we mean what we say,” Gandhi said in her concluding speech at the 83rd Congress plenary in Burari, in north-west Delhi.
She further said: “I can say with pride that we have simply no reason to have any doubt on our record… our record stands out especially when we compare it to the record of the NDA… to what they achieved during their time.”
“It is our duty to counter the accusations that are blatantly baseless, unfounded… being levelled by the Opposition particularly by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),” she added.he expressed satisfaction that Prime Dr. Minister Manmohan Singh had assured that he would “take forward” her suggestion for a five-point plan to fight corruption.
The Congress President’s closing remarks at the plenary session today followed the same line that she launched on Sunday when she declared a five-point agenda that the Congress will follow in tackling corruption. (ANI)
