Some defence recruitment ads are fraud, cautions official

NEW DELHI - Some recruitment advertisements put out in local and national dailies on behalf of the government or the army are fraudulent, as some touts are trying to dupe gullible candidates by promising them jobs with the armed forces, a defence spokesperson said Monday.
A few cases have been noticed recently wherein fraudulent advertisement regarding recruitment were inserted in newspapers, including in national newspapers, the spokesperson said in a statement.
The advertisements pertaining to recruitment activities in the army have been inserted on behalf of the army or the government of India, said the spokesperson.
He said: It appears that a number of touts and fraudsters are trying to trick gullible candidates to part with large sums of money by promising them recruitment.
The Indian Army has set a process in motion to bring such defaulters and fraudsters to book, he said.
The spokesperson requested newspapers to advise their marketing and advertisement departments to accept such ads only after ascertaining the credentials of client.
