Four Maoists killed in Visakhapatnam

VISAKHAPATNAM - Four Maoists were killed and a reserve sub-inspector was injured in an exchange of fire in the forest area in Visakhapatnam on Friday.
The rebels belonged to the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA), the military wing of the CPI (Maoist).
Nearly 300 rounds were fired in the exchange of fire that took place between Cheruvuru and Yegajanaba villages under Balapam Panchayat in Chintapalli mandal of Visakhapatnam district.
There were two women among the dead.
Speaking to mediapersons, Sowmya Mishra, Deputy Inspector General of Visakha Range Police said the bodies of three Maoists were recovered.
“The bodies of three Maoists were recovered by area police, who were gunned down by the security personnel in the cross-firing. One more Maoist was critically injured. He later died but we haven’t got his body,” said Mishra.
She also informed that an INSAS rifle and 40 kitbags were recovered from the rebels. (ANI)
