Reply to Governor on land scams, illegal mining in two days time: Yeddyurappa

BANGALORE - Reacting to Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj’s letters seeking clarification from the State Government on illegal mining and alleged land scams, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Friday said his office has received two letters and a befitting reply would be given to it within the next two days.
“My office has received two letters from Governor Bharadwaj, a reply to which would be given in the next two days,” said Yeddyurappa.
Governor Bharadwaj had written two letters to Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa asking for clarification on the land scams and Reddy brothers’ involvement in illegal mining. The Governor also claimed that he had not got any reply to the letters previously.The Governor today charging the Yeddyurappa Government said it has ‘failed’ to check illegal mining and demanded that Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa should reply to his recent letters on illegal mining and alleged land scams.
“Illegal mining is still continuing. No action is taken by the government here. It is my duty to protect the state’s interest. I have written several letters to the state government on various issues. I am also sending reports every month to the Centre on the happenings, which I continue to do,” Governor Bhardwaj told reporters.
“As a Governor I have to check whether what is appearing in the media is correct and if it is correct, I must get a report. I have a right under the constitution,” he added giving justifications of his letters sent to Chief Minister Yeddyurappa. (ANI)
