‘Regional Coordination Mechanism’ among north eastern states has become operational: Govt.

NEW DELHI - The Government on Thursday said the Regional Coordination Mechanism to facilitate 24×7 sharing and follow-up of information among the north eastern states has become operational.he Home Ministry release said the tripartite talks with the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) on their demands are continuing.
“Several groups such as NDFB (Pro-talk), DHD (Nunisa), DHD(J) and UPDS in Assam and ANVC in Meghalaya are holding talks with the Government of India and the State Government concerned. P. C. Haldar is the interlocutor,” the Ministry of Home Affairs release said.
“Talks with the NSCN (IM) on their demands are continuing with R.S. Pandey representing the Government of India,” the release added.
The Home Ministry release further said that after overcoming many difficulties, repatriation of Bru migrants from Tripura to Mizoram resumed on November 3, 2010.
The release further said the Naga groups imposed a blockade on NH-39 with effect from April 24, 2010 protesting the holding of elections to the Autonomous District Councils in Manipur. CPMF companies were deployed for security of NH-39 and NH-53. Through patient negotiations with different Naga groups, the blockade of NH-39 was lifted on June 18, 2010. (ANI)
