So it is ultimately the charge sheet which they will make. That is why I reminded that the FIR has not been filed in any of the case, the first FIR which was filed and investigation on which Supreme Court has taken exception and reprimanded the CBI that you are sitting on an investigation and you are not going ahead the way you should have gone.”

STORY: India’s main Opposition, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), described raids carried out by country’s nodal probe agency, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), as “too little and too late” in connection with the 2G telecom spectrum allocation scam on Wednesday (December 15).
Prakash Javadekar, National Spokesperson of BJP, at a press conference held in India’s national capital New Delhi, termed the raids as farce.
“(CBI Raids) are too late and too little, because they have allowed lot of time for everybody to hush up the things and details and that’s why this seems to be a farce, nothing more than that and here CBI is also complaining that in CWG (Commonwealth Games), Kalmadi and Bhanot are hurdles for any investigation to be conducted,” said Javadekar.
He continued to insist on the party’s stand for formation of Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for investigation. He said that the CBI probe would be redundant due to sufficient time gap for cover up.
“I would like to see what actually CBI frames charges against whom and what because raids per say is not an action, raids per say can collect a lot of information but they want to reveal and what they want to hide nobody knows. So it is ultimately the charge sheet which they will make. That is why I reminded that the FIR has not been filed in any of the case, the first FIR which was filed and investigation on which Supreme Court has taken exception and reprimanded the CBI that you are sitting on an investigation and you are not going ahead the way you should have gone,” said Javadekar.
CBI carried out sleuths of raids in Ariyalur, Perambalur and Trichy in India’s southern state of Tamil Nadu, in search of documents against A. Raja, India’s former telecom Minister.
Its officials raided at residence of Raja along with the residence of his brother and sister in Perambalur and Trichy respectively, while in Ariyalur, the CBI officials reached at a branch of State Bank of India where Raja has his account.
Simultaneously, the CBI officials have also raided corporate lobbyist Nira Radia’s residence in New Delhi and her office titled Vaishnavi Corporate Communications, both in the national capital and at Chennai in India’s southern state Tamil Nadu.
The raid was in connection with her alleged role in the 2G-telecom spectrum allocation scam.
According to the reports, the CBI has carried out raids at 27 places in India’s southern Tamil Nadu state, and eight places in New Delhi in connection with its probe.
The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, a constitutional audit authority, in a report held former Telecom Minister, A Raja responsible for causing losses estimated at a whopping Rs 1.76 trillion ($39.57 billion) to the exchequer in 2G telecom spectrum allotments to favoured operators without any auction bids.
Last week too, the CBI had raided the house of Raja in New Delhi, along with his homes in Tamil Nadu state in connection with the scam. Important papers were recovered from the raid.
