DHARAMSALA - Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama underwent a medical check-up here on Saturday after a recent bout of illness.
Tibetan journalist Od Lobsang Wangyal said the Dalai Lama was here for a regular health check-up.
“From my point of view, it wouldn’t be a serious issue because he has been so many times given clean chit by many doctors, except in 2008; he had gall bladder stone surgery and after that he has been expressing himself that, ‘I am very good, my health has no problems,” said Wangyal.
Commenting on the Dalai Lama’s retirement plans, Wangyal said the spiritual leader is preparing Tibetans for such an eventuality.
“Well he is 75. When he is talking about his retirement, I think it is very appropriate thing for him to talk about. Because in case there was no Dalai Lama amongst the Tibetan people, he is trying to prepare Tibetans for such a scenario,” added Wangyal.
