NEW DELHI - Hailing the victory of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Bihar Assembly polls, Janata Dal-United (JD-U) President Sharad Yadav on Wednesday said the results are the outcome of the socio-economic development programme implemented by the Nitish Kumar-led coalition government in the state.

“I would like to thank the public of Bihar fir our party’ win in the polls, whose results was declared this morning. The incumbent government, in office since the last five years has worked towards inclusive growth and socio-economic development during their tenure. The results are an outcome of the socio-economic development programme implemented in the State for which I congratulate the people of Bihar and Nitish Kumar,” Yadav told reporters here.

Further slamming the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) alliance, Sharad Yadav said they only talked about development but did not implement it during their tenure, adding that the JD-U proved their mettle through work.

“There is only one debatable matter, to do work and to speak through your work is the responsibility of the government. The leaders of the RJD-LJP combine are only giving lectures since the past 25 years,” said Yadav.

“These lectures are also 20-25 years old. They merely talked and we proved ourselves through good work,” he added.

The BJP-JD-U combine has bagged three-fourth majority and has won 206 of the 230 seats, results of which have been declared so far.

The Congress suffered a major electoral setback as it has managed to win only four seats and was leading in three others compared to the nine seats it held in 2005.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) alliance did not fare well in the polls and secured just 18 seats. The alliance had secured 64 seats in the last polls. (ANI)
