Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute starts its ‘Silver Jubilee’ celebrations

NEW DELHI - The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal PV Naik, accompanied by Air Force Wives Welfare Association (AFWWA) President, Madhubaala Naik, presided over the annual day function of the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute on Wednesday, which entered its ‘Silver Jubilee’ year.
With a motto - ‘Vidya Vindate Amritam’ meaning ‘Knowledge is Everlasting’, the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute, one of the three Delhi based Air Force Schools, situated at Subroto Park, is a unique school, which integrates specially abled children with their peers in as many activities as possible.
This school, which was set up in the year 1986 with just 30 students today has extended upto class XII and has more than 2000 students on its roll.
The annual day function which had participants from both the General as well as Special Wing saw the Chief Guest, Air Chief Marshal Naik release ‘Memoire’, a book containing the school’s journey from its inception till now.
This unique school with a special wing not just aims at academic learning but also acknowledges the different needs of special children. The special wing is committed to meet the aspirations of special children towards making them as independent as possible.
Vocational rehabilitation is the ultimate goal of this special wing wherein awareness programmes, in-service training programmes and workshops are conducted for parents to keep them abreast with the emerging trends in special education. Vocational training is conducted in fields of home management, paper products, printing and xeroxing, candle making, weaving and computers.
Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute is the first integrated school in Asia set up under the aegis of IAF educational and cultural society with a unique aim of realizing the potential of children with special needs.
Air Marshal JN Burma Air Officer -in- Charge Administration, Air Marshal Naresh Verma Director General (Ceremonial and Works) were also present on the occasion. (ANI)
