NEW DELHI - The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday questioned high profile corporate lobbyist Nira Radia for her alleged role in the 2G Spectrum scam.
The Enforcement Directorate, which recorded Nira Radia’s statement, questioned her about allocation of the 2G Spectrum to certain telecom players.
“We have recorded her statement. She has promised to submit certain papers, which she will be submitting. We will be calling her as and when required,” said Enforcement Directorate Official Prabha Kant.
Nira Radia was summoned after tapes exposed how she allegedly lobbied with senior journalists and telecom companies in the 2G-spectrum scam.
“Only want to say that I have been very much here, unfortunately there has been mashed media frenzy about the fact that I am not here. I am here and available for full cooperation with the authority. The matter is presently available in front of the honourable Supreme Court and it is subjudice, beyond this I would not like to say anything else,” Radia told reporters outside the Enforcement Directorate office here.
“I also want to add that we are fully transparent, whatever information has been required from us and will be required on the ongoing basis will be provided,” she added.
Nira Radia also cleared the air regarding the rumours of her absence for questiong citing health reasons.
She had earlier avoided questioning by the ED citing health reasons.
The Enforcement Directorate is inquiring whether Radia had any direct or indirect interest in some companies that were awarded spectrum.
The Central Bureau of investigation (CBI) had in an affidavit said to the Supreme Court that the role of Radia would be examined in the 2G-spectrum allocation case in which irregularities were of ‘enormous magnitude’ having international ramifications.
On November 22, the investigating agency filed a fresh affidavit in the apex court, and said the telephonic conversation between Radia and others were being examined. (ANI)
