HYDERABAD - The American dance group ‘Bandloop’ recently performed an aerial dance on the walls of the historical Golconda Fort in Hyderabad to spread awareness about the environment.

The acrobats not only climbed the walls, but also performed a few gravity-defying moves and awe-inspiring acrobatics.

“Rocks of Deccan Plateau are valuable places for human imagination. They should not be wasted or destroyed. They should be kept sacred and safe and the human environment can be built around that but the natural landscape needs to be honoured,” said Mark Stuvert, one of the performers.pectators enjoyed watching the performance.

“No, I have not seen anything like this before. It was one of the first of its kind. The backdrop was spectacular. Our architecture (was) put to great use and I hope they will perform again,” said Rajesh Desai, a spectator.

The barefoot dancers hovered over the massive stonewalls of the 13th century fort, loping along its walls, leaping into the air in perfect coordination as the crowd below cheered them enthusiastically.

Sponsored by the US Consular General in collaboration with the State Tourism Department and Society to Save the Rocks, the event saw a tremendous turnout. By Omar Ali Tahir (ANI)
