MELBOURNE - The Australian police opened fire on an alleged bandit, sparking a chase that saw an officer commandeering a jet ski to capture the offender.
The drama began when the police officers saw a vehicle with the engine running outside a business at Ashmore on the Gold Coast, reports News.com.au.
One of the accused ran off while the other allegedly drove at the police, prompting one officer to fire a shot at the vehicle.
After a brief chase, the driver jumped into a nearby canal in a bid to escape.
“The man … allegedly swam across the canal in an attempt to evade arrest before being apprehended by a police officer who had commandeered a jet ski,” the police said.
The police have also detained his alleged accomplice. (ANI)
