GUWAHATI - Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Saturday rejected the demands of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) faction for creation of a separate State of ‘Bodoland’.
“Under no circumstances such a state would be formed carving out parts of Assam. The demand would be opposed at the Government as well as the ruling Congress party levels,” Gogoi told reporters here today.
Bodoland is an area located in the north bank of Brahmaputra river in Assam by the foothills of Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh, which is inhabited predominantly by Bodo language speaking ethnic group. (ANI)
