Shooter Rathore underscores importance of fitness at Delhi School Skating Championship

NEW DELHI - The importance of maintaining physical fitness was underscored at the two-day Inter-School Roller Skating Championship 2010, which was held here under the aegis of the Netaji Subhash Sports and Welfare Association.

Declaring the event open on November 18, Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh, ace shooter and silver medal winner in the Men’s Double Trap shooting competition at the 2004 Summer Olympic in Athens, Greece, said a fit mind and body were perquisites for leading a full and healthy life.

In all, 40 schools participated in the event. Among them were popular public schools such as Sanskriti School in Chanakyapuri and the G.D. Salwan Public School of Rajendra Nagar.

Roller skating races were held for different age categories at the Shree Venkateshwara International School in Dwarka.

Among the luminaries present at the event were Shri Venkateshwara International School Chairman Sailendra Solanki and Netaji Subhash Sports and Welfare Association (NSSWA) President H.R. Gupta.

A heart felt thanks was extended to Keshav Chandra Duklan and Ashwini Kumar Verma for providing coaching tips and support to the participants by the representatives of the Shri Venkateshwara International School.
