Antony expresses grief over Arunachal crash

NEW DELHI - Defence Minister A.K. Antony Friday expressed “profound grief” over the crash of an Indian Air Force (IAF) MI-17 helicopter in Arunachal Pradesh that killed 12 defence personnel.
Defence Minister Shri A.K. Antony has expressed profound grief at the loss of lives of defence personnel in the crash, a statement released by the ministry said.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has also constituted a Court of Inquiry to look into the cause of the accident.
The accident took place at 12.05 p.m. at Bombdir, near Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh bordering China, at an altitude of 14,000 feet. The chopper was bound to Guhawati in Assam from Tawang.
According to the statement, those killed in the crash include three crew members, eight IAF personnel below officer rank and an Indian Army lieutenant colonel.
