PM did not reply to any of my letters: Subramanian Swamy

NEW DELHI - Janta Party president and chief petitioner in the 2G telecom spectrum scam, Subramanian Swamy, on Thursday alleged that Prime Minster Manmohan Singh had ignored his letters for demanding action against ministers involved in the scam.

Interacting with mediapersons here, Swamy said Dr. Singh had not replied to any of his five letters since November 2008.

“As far as the Prime Minister is concerned, he did not reply substantively to any letter of mine from November 29, 2008. And, I have written five times to him, each time sending a document to him, which came into my possession,” said Swamy.

Swamy further said the former Union Minister for Information Technology and Communications A. Raja had written to him in that regard, saying that it was “totally illegal” for Raja to do so, as he himself had been named in the petition.

“Mr. Raja wrote me a letter saying that the Prime Minister has forwarded my petition, for sanction to him and he wants to reply, and under the Supreme Court judgments, that is totally illegal. The Prime Minister cannot send my petition to the person who is an accused in my petition. He has to decide whether to allow me to go to court or not to go to court,” said Swamy.

Reportedly, the Supreme Court on Tuesday expressed its displeasure over the Prime Minister’s “inaction and silence”.

Swamy also alleged that Solicitor General Gopal Subramanian was “misled” by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on communications with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the 2G spectrum allocation issue.

“I am suggesting that the Solicitor General is either embroidering or stretching the truth. He is taking even routine acknowledgment as reply,” said Swamy. (ANI)
