‘Kool Mints’ can help drinkers ’sober up quickly’

MELBOURNE - Former Australian politician Jeff Kennett has claimed that Kool Mints can help sober him up when he is driving after a couple of drinks.
The former Victorian premier told radio listeners to chew on a few Kool Mints and the alcohol quickly vanished.I’m quite sure it works,” News.com.au quoted Kennett as saying during his weekly interview on Fairfax Radio.
Kennett explained that he first discovered the mints’ magical powers years ago when, as a young politician, he drank far too much before a speech.
Feeling quite ill, he spotted a bowl of Kool Mints, scoffed the lot and quickly felt invigorated.
“I stood up and, of course, gave this wonderful speech. It’s just wonderful. It absorbed the alcohol,” he recalled on 3AW.
Ever since, he keeps a bunch of Kool Mints in his car and tells other drivers to do the same.
“If you’re ever stupid enough to drink and drive … reach into the console of your car and have a couple of Kool Mints. You’ll feel a new person,” he stated.
The Victoria police was so concerned by the comment that it called a press conference on the myths surrounding drink driving.
Inspector Martin Boorman said such false theories were “unhelpful” as he politely tried to explain how the former premier had no idea what he was talking about.
“The reality is that the only thing that will eliminate alcohol from your system is your body and that takes time,” he said. (ANI)
