Delhi Police arrest owner of collapsed building in Laxmi Nagar

NEW DELHI - The Delhi police arrested Amritpal Singh (55) the owner of the building that collapsed in Laxmi Nagar in East Delhi killing over 66 people.
A case of culpable homicide in accordance with Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code is registered against Amritpal Singh.
“We were keeping a constant vigil on his movements. Based on a tip-off, at around seven in the evening, we arrested him from his relative’s house in the Geeta Colony area. The interrogation and questioning is presently underway,” said I.B. Rani, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police East Delhi.
A five-storey residential building collapsed in the Laxmi Nagar area of New Delhi, killing at least 66 people to death.
Another 78 people were injured and at least 30 more are still believed to be trapped in the rubble.
Residents said the heavy rain this year had probably weakened the structure. (ANI)
