Mobile courts for Panchayats, naxal-affected areas: Veerappa Moily

AGARTALA - The Government is all set to introduce mobile courts in Panchayats, especially in Naxal-affected areas, as such a step will help dispose of cases within six months.

Also to make the judiciary more transparent, the Judicial Standard and Accountability Bill is going to be laced in the parliament next month by the Government.

Union Minister for Law and Justice Veerappa Moily informed about it here today while inaugurating a new High Court building.

Stating that mobile courts in Naxalite-infested areas will also instil confidence among the common people, Moily said , the courts will function like gramin nyayalayas (village courts) and there will be one mobile court for five or six panchayats. Every Panchayat will be sanctioned upto Rs. 18 lakh for construction of a court building.

Moily said though the Indian Judiciary is independent and one of the best in the world, it needs reforms to deliver faster with the help of modern technology.

The Union Law Minister said no case should be pending for more than three years. (ANI)
