AMRITSAR - Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) has started preparations to formulate economic policy for Punjab for future and will it will give a stable programme when it comes to power.

“We have started homework for preparing Punjab policy for future and would give a stable programme,” said former Punjab Chief Minister Captain (Retd.) Amarinder Singh on Tuesday while interacting with reporters, as he arrived here to offer thanksgiving prayers at the Golden Temple and Durgiana Temple ahead of assuming his new charge athe PPCC chief from November 12.

Congress MLA Omprakash Soni was also present on the occasion to welcome Capt. Amarinder here.

Talking about his proposed economic reform policy for the Punjab, Captain Amaridner Singh said that his government would not jump on to anything without doing homework as Manpreet Badal did without taking the Union Government into confidence.

Singh reiterated that by the time Congress comes to power, the Punjab state’s debt would have crossed Rs. 80,000 crore. They would then require a strong economic policy for the State.

Singh told reporters that he was not against doing away with the subsidies but, he said, that the benefit of subsidies should go to poor and needy and not to the rich people.

Expressing concern over the law and order situation of Punjab, Amariner Singh claimed that the crime rate has increased by 65 per cent and the State economy was inhambles.

Amarinder clarified that he was not into vendetta politics but would hold a case by case investigation of Congress workers who had been booked on several charges.

“We will up to tracing the perpetrators of the filing false police cases on congress workers, book police officials who slapped these false cases,” he said. By Sawinder Singh (ANI)
