BARAMULLA - At least two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were shot dead by militants in North Kashmir’s Baramulla District on Wednesday.

It has been reported that the CRPF personnel belonging to the 154 Battalion were on patrolling duty at the main chowk of Pattan, around 30 kilometers from Srinagar, on Srinagar-Baramulla national highway when unidentified militants shot at them from point blank range at 11.45 a.m.

No militant outfit has, however, claimed responsibility for the incident.

One of the CRPF personnel, Constable B Teja, died on the spot, while Head Constable Om Prakash succumbed to his injuries at Pattan Hospital.

“The service rifles of both the jawans are ‘missing’ and believed to have been taken away by the militants,” officials said.

The initial inquiry has revealed that the militants were armed with pistols fitted with silencers.

The security personnel have cordoned the whole area, and a massive search operation has been launched to get hold of the militants. (ANI)
