14 die in Karnataka rains and floods caused by Jal cyclone

NEW DELHI - At least 14 persons have died in Karnataka rains and floods while crops spread over an area of 5,763 hectares have been badly affected.
The situation has arisen due to incessant rains and floods which have affected at least 15 districts in the State caused by Jal cyclone.
Eight tanks in Chitradurga district are overflowing.
At least 370 persons have so far been rehabilitated at the four relief camps set up here.
Eight tanks in Hassan and three tanks in Davangere are damaged and overflowing.
Meanwhile, Dharwad, Mysore, Chitradurga, Tumkur and Davangere districts have faced biggest infrastructure losses.
According to the MeT department forecast, moderate to rather heavy rain would occur at many places over all the districts of coastal Karnataka and south interior of Karnataka and at a few places over all the districts of north interior Karnataka. (ANI)
