Govt. expenditure on modernisation of Central Para Military Forces revealed

NEW DELHI - The Government on Tuesday informed that it approved a five-year plan (2002-07) for modernisation of six Central Para Military Forces.

Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran, in a written apply to a question in Lok Sabha, informed that for the modernisation of these six Central Para Military Forces-Assam Rifles, (AR), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Border Security Forces (BSF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and National Security Guard (NSG)-the Government approved an estimated cost of Rs. 3740.71 crores in February 2002.

Separately, the Government also approved a three-year plan (2005-08) for modernization of Sashatra Seema Bal (SSB) at an estimated cost of Rs. 444.43 crores in April, 2005. The Government also approved the extension of both the above plans up to 31.03.2011. (ANI)
