LAHORE - Pakistan has rejected India’s request to tone down the flag-lowering ceremony at the Wagah Border.

According to a media handout, Director-General of Punjab Rangers Major-General Muhammad Yaqoob Ali Khan said that the parade would go on in the traditional aggressive style, The Express Tribune reported.

Handshaking between the two sides’ rangers will continue, he added.

Earlier last month, the Pakistani Rangers had decided to discontinue the aggressive marching approach during the flag march ceremony at the Wagah Border on the request of the Indian Border Security Force.

Director-General of BSF Raman Shrivastav and Punjab Rangers DG Yaqoob had also mutually agreed to urge their respective governments to release the fishermen held captive by both sides after minimum detention and paperwork. (ANI)
