WELLINGTON - Shopkeepers in New Zealand are doing brisk business with Guy Fawkes Night and Diwali celebrations falling on the same day.

The Indian community in New Zealand will be able to celebrate the day with fireworks, and at one of Auckland’s main fireworks outlets, the majority of buyers were Indians.Good for business, Guy Fawkes and Diwali together,” Stuff.co.nz quoted the owner as saying.

Guy Fawkes Night, which thanks to Daylight Savings and increasingly strict controls is disappearing from the city scene, marks the 1605 Gunpower Plot.

Fawkes, a Catholic, had tried to assassinate King James I to restore a Catholic monarch to the throne. (ANI)
